Philosophers for Humanity is an organization which strives to materialize philosophical ideas into practical change. By combining philanthropy and philosophy, we hope to raise awareness of important issues and encourage a culture of action-oriented advocacy.
We aim to create a substantive impact within the University of Toronto and the broader Toronto community through hands-on outreach and fundraising.
Each month, we host panel discussions on a wide array of philosophical topics to cultivate students' philosophical interests outside of class.
Charity
At the start of each year, our members vote for one local charity to support. All proceeds from our fundraising efforts will go directly to that charity at the end of the academic year.
Community
We aim to nurture the UofT philosophy community through events like "Ethics Circle" and "Volunteering Days" which connect students to each other and the wider Toronto community.
Philosophers for Humanity’s fundraising efforts center around raising money for a local charity which is voted for by our members each year. Last September, our members voted to support WoodGreen Community Services which provides free social services to under-resourced Toronto community members. All money raised this school year will go directly to WoodGreen!
